This workshop will enable you to learn how to use Barrier Games as a Targeted Intervention.

In this workshop you will learn easy to implement strategies that you can use either in the classroom or in your planning that will support children with SLCN.
This workshop includes strategies and guidance on the following areas:
-Targeted & universal in class strategies
-The importance of using meaningful activities in learning experiences.
-Using visuals to aid understanding
-The importance of modelling in all curriculum areas
-Supporting children’s learning with writing frames and task planners
-How using mixed ability groups can support learning
-Creating independency and learning how to identify and ask for help
-Support and scaffolding around questioning
-Strategies to support sentence construction, vocabulary and literacy learning
-Providing emotional support

In this workshop you will learn about the importance of vocabulary development, how children learn words , and learn about a structured whole – group approach to teaching vocabulary. Following this online?workshop you will?have the tools to?promote?different kinds of words and?know how to help children remember and learn them. You will learn how to apply this knowledge in play times and everyday routines.

This course will support your understanding of the common communication differences in Down Syndrome and explore the differences in learning style. The course will also provide some ideas of how you can support children with DS in your setting.

This workshop will introduce a technique for following a child’s lead within a small group structure and for developing practitioners’ skills in talking with children. The approach allows practitioners to interact in a playful way using a variety of media (actions, objects, pens, and paper) which can develop a range of communication and PSE skills.
