Why is oracy so important?
Speech, language and communication skills underpin all children’s learning. Learning to, and being able to, read and write is dependent on language and communication skills.
This workshop includes strategies and guidance on the following areas:
-Meta cognition – teaching and modelling active listening skills
-How collaborative learning can help children to improve their communication skills.
-Oracy based activities that help children in their reading and writing
-Universal (whole class) vocabulary teaching strategies.
-Strategies to promote social Interaction and language and communication, such as circle time.
-Games/activities that promote active listening/talking for Reception, Key Stage One and Two.

This workshop is for classroom teachers from Reception to Year 6.
